How does one ship powder/primer to Alaska? (help needed)
I'm trying to find out how one can ship powder and primer from lower 48
to Anchorage, AK. What are my options? Thanks. |

I THINK you can just ship it. Declare what it is. Pay the ORMD (Hazmat fee) and call it a day.
A phone call to UPS will probably give you the answer you seek. A buddy of mine just shipped 200 rounds of .357 sig to his brother in Ga. He lives in Wy. He paid shipping plus like $9 for ORMD fee. No other issues other than declaring what it was. That's what he told me. |

We're talking REAL HazMat stuff here. If you do not label/package/ship it properly, you will be legally & financially screwed. It must go by a HazMat carrier (such as FedEx or UPS), not the US Postal Service. Shipping HazMats legally is NOT a job for amateurs (such as myself, although I took IATA training years ago). Even the type of cardboard box you use makes a difference (in terms of whether the shipment is legit or illegal). You may need to go through a special freight handler/shipper, in order to avoid any legal hassles. I personally would not ship these types of materials in the lower 48 by ground, not to mention shipping them to Alaska by ground or air. Too many nit-picky details. :36_1_30: |
